Your adventure starts in Sowerby

Sprout Quest begins in a quiet glade near Sowerby, where a simple journey gradually becomes a larger fantasy adventure. Meet villagers, follow story quests and explore the meadows and woods beyond the village. New paths lead to dangerous caverns, unfamiliar creatures and valuable resources. Combat happens in real time: knowing when to attack, dodge or use a weapon skill matters alongside your equipment. Between battles, gather wood and ore, develop your skills and return to turn those materials into better tools, weapons and buildings. Sowerby changes with your progress. Quests unlock projects, characters and activities, connecting exploration, combat, crafting and village life in a single-player adventure that runs directly in your browser.

How to play

  • Phone and tablet controlsDrag on the play area to create a floating movement joystick. Tap the action buttons to attack, dodge, use a skill or drink a potion when those actions are available. Follow the prompts for gathering and interactions; a tap and a movement drag serve different purposes.
  • Desktop movement and combatMove with WASD or the arrow keys. In combat, use J or Space to attack, K or Shift to dodge, L for your weapon skill and H for a healing potion. R runs or retreats in situations that offer that action. Watch action cooldowns rather than pressing every action at once.
  • Interactions, menus and progressUse E or Enter to interact with nearby characters and objects. B opens your bag, Q opens the journal, and M or Escape opens the menu. Check quest objectives and materials before heading out; use Continue to return to a locally saved adventure.

Discover the world and its activities

  • A fantasy world to exploreTravel from the starting glade to Sowerby, then into meadows, woods and caverns. Echo Cavern, Glimmer Hollow and Ember Peak lie further along the journey. New regions open through progression, so prepare before following a newly accessible path.
  • Quests and village charactersTalk to Elder Oswin and meet Poppy, Bram, Pip and other villagers. Their conversations give context to your objectives and introduce new activities. Story quests connect discoveries outside Sowerby with the work you do back in the village.
  • Real-time battlesFace monsters and bosses with attacks, dodges and weapon skills. Watch cooldowns, look for openings and use healing potions when needed. Battles keep moving while you decide what to do, making positioning and timing part of every encounter.
  • Weapons and equipmentTry swords, hammers, whips and wands, each with its own style. Armor and charms complement your weapon choice. Better recipes and forge improvements become available as you progress; stronger equipment takes materials and suitable skills to make.
  • Woodcutting and miningCollect wood and ore through timing-based gathering interactions. Practice develops gathering skills, while improved axes and pickaxes make tougher resources easier to work. Materials from each region give you reasons to explore and revisit familiar places.
  • Build and improve SowerbyBring resources home for village projects as they unlock. Develop your home, improve the forge and work toward facilities such as training areas, a sawmill and a guest cottage. Building is part of progression, with requirements for each project.
  • Gardening and village lifeLater quests make gardening available. Grow ingredients and make use of the village's developing facilities between expeditions. These activities give gathered materials another purpose and make returning to Sowerby worthwhile beyond simply changing your equipment.
  • An adventure you can return toContinue your saved journey in the same browser and revisit earlier regions for materials or unfinished objectives. Progress eventually unlocks the Waystone, which connects Sowerby to campfires you have lit. Travel benefits arrive through play, rather than being available at the start.

How progression works

Opening new routes

Follow the journal's objectives and talk to villagers when a task is complete. Quests, region guardians and village requirements guide access to later areas. If a route is blocked, check your current objective and prepare your equipment instead of assuming every region is immediately accessible.

Timing attacks and dodges

Watch enemy attacks, action cooldowns and available dodge charges so you can respond when needed. Weapon skills add another option, but do not replace basic attacks or careful movement. Potions help restore health; choosing when to use them is part of preparing for longer fights.

Gathering with the right tools

During woodcutting and mining, time your strikes using the gathering prompts. Skill growth and stronger tools improve the work you can do. Check which materials you need before an expedition, and upgrade your axe or pickaxe as new resources become accessible.

From materials to equipment

A recipe alone does not guarantee you can forge an item. You also need its materials, the required skills and an appropriate forge level. Review those requirements, gather what is missing and improve the forge to move into higher equipment tiers.

Projects that expand village life

Village upgrades use collected resources and unlock through quests. A better forge supports equipment progression; gardening and the sawmill introduce further activities. Choose a project by checking its requirements and benefits, then gather toward that goal alongside your story objectives.

Keeping track of your journey

Use the journal for objectives and your bag for resources and equipment. Progress saves in browser-local storage, allowing Continue on a later visit. Keep the same browser data: clearing it may remove the adventure, and an Exiru account does not automatically synchronize this save.
